Why mid-drive is fundamentally different
Hub motors bolt onto a wheel and brute-force it forward. Mid-drive sits at the pedal crank — exactly where your legs push — and works with your gears. The result is night-and-day different on Indian roads.

Remove pedals & bottom bracket
A standard 15mm spanner is all you need. The pedals and existing BB come off in under 5 minutes on any Indian cycle — no special tools, no experience required.

Slide the motor into the same BB shell your old bracket came out of. Tighten with the included mounting tool. Zero frame modification — no drilling, no welding.

Mount battery & connect cables
Strap the battery to the downtube or carry it in a bag. Just 3 cable connections — all color-coded connectors that only fit one way. Impossible to get wrong.

No frame modifications at all. The TAV kit replaces the bottom bracket — the same threaded shell your existing BB screws into. It comes out, the TAV motor goes in. Same thread, same shell. No drilling, no welding, fully reversible.
No. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, electric bicycles with motors under 250W and speed below 25 km/h are classified as bicycles — not motor vehicles. No registration, no licence, no insurance required.
The 5.4Ah battery gives around 25 km on full throttle; the 8Ah gives around 40 km. On PAS 1 (minimum assist) range is higher. The battery charges via a standard wall socket in 3–4 hours. The charger is included and the battery is removable.
If your bicycle has a standard threaded bottom bracket shell (68–73mm BSA thread), the TAV kit fits. This covers roughly 95% of bicycles sold in India including Hero, Atlas, BSA, Firefox, Hercules, Decathlon, Montra, and most other brands.
Yes — completely normally. The motor disengages when you're not using it. The weight addition (about 3.2 kg for motor + battery) is noticeable but not prohibitive, and the mid-drive placement keeps the handling natural.
With mid-drive, fixing a flat is exactly the same as on a normal bicycle. The motor is at the crank, not the wheel — so you remove the wheel exactly as you would without the kit. Hub motor owners have to disconnect motor wires before removing the wheel.
The motor unit carries a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. The battery carries a 6-month capacity warranty. WhatsApp support is available Monday to Saturday, 10am–6pm IST for any questions or issues.
